Content of the programme_

Core subjects

Core Subject areas

The Multimedia programme at IBA is organized into 6 core areas:

Communication (20 ects)

Communication theory and models – information architecture – market communication and marketing – journalism – media sociology – user tests 


Concept development and design (25 ects)

Development of concepts and ideas – digital design and aesthetics – creative methods – documentation – designing interfaces for different digital media and screens – production of video and audio – construction in 3D


Construction and programming (25 ects)

Technologies – modelling functionality – programming multimedia applications – modelling and implementing databases – animation


Business (10 ects)

Innovation – organization and management theory – planning and management of multimedia projects – quality assurance


Elective courses at the 3. Semester (10 ects)

The actual content of these courses vary from year to year, and is decided together with the students. There are minimum two courses to choose between


Dissertation project and placement (30  ects)

Final project. The programme ends with a specially studied subject.

Normally the student finds a relevant project in cooperation with a company in Denmark or abroad. The final project is frequently a continuation of some of the subjects the student worked with during placement.

Multimedia and business
This programme reflects the importance and variety of multimedia. Almost every field requires a multimedia expert. Virtually every organization, industry and business wishes to say or sell something with the use of multimedia like a website. The evolution of multimedia has created new forms of interaction in the business sphere and new cultural relations. Most businesses and organizations have to adapt to new relations to customers, forms of marketing, business models and new communications channels.
Working with multimedia requires a high level of analytical and practical skills. The AP-programme at IBA provides the students with the tools and techniques to create multimedia productions. The students will be able to analyze multimedia productions as well as plan and implement productions emphasizing cultural usability and the needs of business environments.

Having finished the programme the student will be able to:
 
  • To plan, design and construct multimedia projects
  • To work with cognitive, cultural and affective dimensions as integrated part of a project
  • To create communication models and business models
  • To understand how an interface affects different users and analyze users and target groups
  • To evaluate and analyze multimedia products including cultural perspectives and design perspectives
