Project description

International Business Academy invites you to its global mindset training. This aims to increase cultural intelligence, and to improve global communications and cross cultural collaboration for teachers, international coordinators, directors and other employees in Denmark, Europe and China. The training programme has been developed in collaboration with C3 Consulting, who have many years of experience delivering similar training programs.

The main goal of this programme is to strengthen cultural insight, to avoid misunderstandings, and to improve daily cross-cultural communication and collaboration between employees and partners from different cultures.

Objective, and analytical output

The aim of this training programme is to put new knowledge into practice, in order to create better results in your global workday.

Cases: We continuously work with your own examples – e.g. experiences with global colleagues/managers where things didn’t go as planned. Casework makes the training relevant and enhances the connection between training scenarios and real-life situations.

Cultural models: New knowledge is more readily used when it becomes systematic. That’s why we use a range of cultural models which make it easier to deal with complex scenarios where cultural differences come into play. The models are brought up repeatedly, so that they are easy to remember and use, even on a busy day.

Energy and involvement: We promote active learning by involving all participants, and maintain energy levels by switching between presentations, casework, exercises and group discussions. We do this because people learn best when they’re engaged and involved. And we might as well have fun at the same time!

The training will include the following main points

  • All cultural understanding begins with self-understanding’.
  • Blind spots – what is typical and normal in your own national culture, and how you perceive ‘good collaboration’.
  • An introduction to basic cultural models, e.g. the ‘cultural investigator’ and the 4R model.
  • How to deal with culturally different management styles and decision-making processes; and understanding why they are different.
  • How to ensure productive and forward-moving projects across cultural and professional differences.
  • How to communicate effectively across cultures. Understanding direct vs. indirect communication.
  • What to do and how to approach it when a misunderstanding or challenge has arisen within your collaboration.
  • Building up relationships, trust and interconnectedness, face-to-face or virtually, in order to strengthen reliability within the collaboration.

Learning Outcomes and Competencies Obtained from this Project

  • Become aware of the significant aspects of your own culture – so that you can put these differences into words when you work globally across offices.
  • Learn how to communicate more consciously, and to achieve effective collaboration and high levels of motivation with international colleagues.
  • Develop tools for building relationships with your colleagues in China, Denmark and Europe, based on trust and inclusion – so you can produce better results together.
  • Recognize the typical pitfalls in your global work – and learn how to avoid these pitfalls, so that you can save time and achieve greater success in your day-to-day tasks.
  • Gain tools for dealing with cultural misunderstandings and conflicts.
