Summer Camp in China
IBA Confucius Institute organizes a summer camp in Shanghai every year. During the summer camp, participants get the opportunity to visit Danish companies that operate in China, take part in cultural and language activities, as well as participate in sightseeing tours. Participants can experience the Chinese culture while learning the language, and meet various local people and native Chinese speakers.
Overall, this initiative represents a fantastic opportunity for students – many of whom decide to continue their studies, or take an internship in Shanghai – to experience life according to Chinese norms and standards, within the Chinese culture; to become more familiar with the local cuisine, and to feel the hectic energy of Shanghai.
Information about SummerCamp
How many students from the IBA go each time?
Around 30 students take part in the SummerCamp every summer.
How much does SummerCamp cost?
As a student you only have to pay travel costs/return flight to China, as well as insurance and pocket money.
A visa is no longer required for Danish citizens.
Everything else – accommodation, meals, excursions, etc. – is covered by our partner university, Shanghai Lixin University.
When does the SummerCamp usually take place?
The SummerCamp is typically 10–14 days at the very beginning of the summer holiday, in late June/early July.
How do I apply / who do I contact?
To be eligible for the summer camp, students must take part in a Chinese language course for at least one semester (12*2 teaching hours) and complete the HSK tests.
The teaching takes place at the IBA and/or online in the evenings and is completely free of charge for IBA students.
Interested students should contact the IBA Confucius Institute at confucius@iba.dk.
Anything else I need to know if I am interested in SummerCamp?
This is a unique opportunity for IBA students, not offered by any other educational institution in Denmark.
The summer camp includes an exciting programme with excursions, company visits, and a visit to the Danish Embassy/Innovation Centre Denmark in China.
“We got up close with Shanghai. The iconic sights were impressive, but there was also plenty of time to explore the city on our own. The many fun interactions with the locals made the trip so much more than just a study tour.”
