Sustainability – Challenges and Opportunities
This module introduces core theoretical and practical concepts central to understanding the nature of sustainability as well as the challenges and opportunities associated with it. It establishes an appreciation of the complexities of understanding the concept and its implications within organizations. It involves an exploration of specific organizational and managerial processes and needs for change in the dynamic, changing context of organizations.
Module content
- Frameworks for understanding sustainability
- Reviewing and critically evaluating the UN’s sustainable development goals
- Setting and meeting an organisation’s response to climate targets
- Reviewing and critically evaluating contemporary research within sustainability in general as well as ESG (environmental factors, social factors, good governance) criteria
- Critically evaluating and debating a holistic approach to sustainability
