Students begin with an overview of corporate finance and the role of financial managers, followed by core analytical tools such as the time value of money and discounted cash flow (DCF) techniques.

The module examines the relationship between risk and return, portfolio diversification, and the application of the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) in estimating expected returns.

The course explores the valuation of financial assets. Students will learn how to estimate a firm’s cost of capital and calculate the weighted average cost of capital (WACC), applying these concepts to corporate investment decisions.

Key capital budgeting techniques—Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period—are analysed and compared to support effective investment appraisal. The module also provides an overview of corporate financing choices and dividend policy.
