IBA Confucius Institute celebrated the Chinese New Year along with employees, board members and partners. It was carried out in best Chinese fashion, with Chinese food and Chinese performances.

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the most important celebration in Chinese culture. It is a special festival for family reunions, sweeping away any ill-fortune and making way for incoming good luck.

In 2023, according to the lunar calendar, the Chinese New Year falls on January 22nd and is the beginning of the “Year of the Rabbit”, which symbolizes longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture. 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope.

Wang Yinuo studies opera at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music. She sang an opera from the Chinese Kun Opera, which dates back to the 14th century.

The lion dance has been a symbol of luck for several generations, representing prosperity, joy, luck and happiness. The Danish Chinese Culture Association was responsible for the dance. They are an association which contributes to the cultural exchange between Danish and Chinese culture. The aim is to establish a social network for Chinese, Danes and other peoples with an interest in both Chinese culture and Danish culture.

The Rector of the IBA International Business Academy wished a happy New Year when he welcomed the guests to the Confucius Institute’s New Year’s lunch at Asien Restaurant in Kolding.

On January 22, 2023, according to the lunar calendar, we entered the Year of the Rabbit. The rabbit symbolizes longevity, prosperity and peace.

Guan Quishun performed a traditional Chinese piece of music on the trumpet. He said that he creates a connection between European and Chinese culture by playing Chinese music on a Western instrument.

 

Ling Jinyu plays the Chinese instrument erhu.
Ling Jinyu is a trained musician, but at the same time she works in Odense municipality. Here she plays the Chinese instrument erhu.

 

Gao Shuo plays on the chines instrument guzheng.
Gao Shuo has lived in Denmark for 9 years. Before coming to Denmark, she studied traditional Chinese painting, but she also loves traditional Chinese music. She plays a guzheng, a stringed instrument that can have between 5 and 50 strings.
