“We have fallen in love with Kolding and the Danish way of life. People are really relaxed and friendly. So, of course, when we got the opportunity, we wanted to come back.”

Hungarian student Virág Klauz has a big smile on her face as she talks about her study trip to the IBA International Business Academy. In fact, it has only been a few months since the 22-year-old Hungarian was last here. Now she has once again signed up for International Week at the IBA, where young people from across Europe come together in Kolding to work on a shared project.

“From Bricks to Lifestyle” is the title of the project that Virág, Ímre and the rest of the international group are working on at the IBA during their study trip.

And just like last time, back in May, Virág has made the trip with 23-year-old Ímre Máté Vigh. Back home in Budapest, they are studying on the same higher education programme in marketing. When they were given the opportunity to go on another study trip, they did not hesitate to choose the IBA and Kolding for a second time.

“It’s a lovely building to spend time in. You really feel at home here at the IBA,” says Virág.
Ímre nods. He completely agrees. And he is also very enthusiastic about the project they are working on. The groups have been tasked with developing a marketing plan aimed specifically at adult LEGO buyers. Before the end of the week, they will present their marketing plans to one another.
“It’s fantastic to work with LEGO as a project because it’s a toy we grew up with ourselves. So it’s a bit like being a child again,” says Ímre.

International Week takes place at the IBA several times a year. The various study programmes host international students, who work together on joint projects. Danish students often join the groups as well.

A total of 15 nationalities are represented at International Week at the IBA. Before getting properly stuck into their projects, everyone went on a group trip to LEGO House to gather inspiration and get into the LEGO spirit. The trip was absolutely perfect, says Ímre, who came back from Billund with slightly fewer euros in his bank account. He simply could not resist buying a model of the unique LEGO House.

“I’m really pleased with it, and I’m looking forward to going home and building it,” he says.

This time, international students travelled to the IBA. On other occasions, it is the other way round, with students from the IBA travelling abroad to take part in International Week in other countries.

The two Hungarian students have not travelled to Kolding solely for the academic challenge. The personal exchange of experiences is also a very important part of the trip, and over the course of the week they get to talk to young people from many different countries.

“Fortunately, the programme is organised so that we have time to meet up afterwards and go out in town. When we were here last time, we made friends with some people whom we have since met up with back home in Budapest. So yes, the social side plays a really big role,” says Virág.

The students work in groups throughout the week and finish by presenting their solutions to one another.

The IBA’s various programmes host International Week several times a year. Likewise, students from the IBA travel abroad to meet students in other countries. In fact, the next trip is to Budapest, where Virág and Ímre live.

“So perhaps we’ll meet the IBA students when they come to Budapest. I hope so. It would be really nice,” says Virág.

Virág and Ímre are visiting the IBA for the second time. And if the opportunity arises, they are even ready to come back again. They both study marketing in Budapest.
